I just went through the same oil in water problem 3 weeks ago on my '93 2.3. The torque and tightening sequence information should come with the new head gasket.
The M12 bolts are torqued at 55 Nm, (40.56 ft. pounds) then turned 90 degrees in the same sequence, then another 90 degrees in the same sequence. The M 8 bolts (4 in front) are torqued at 25 Nm, (18.45 ft. pounds).

Intake Manifold: 17 ft. pounds
Exhaust Manifold: 15 ft. pounds
Camshaft sprocket bolt: 59 ft. pounds
Timing chain tensioner housing: 11.1 ft. pounds
Timing chain tensioner cap: 52 ft. pounds
Belt tensioning lock down bolt: 59 ft. pounds
Valve cover: 11 ft. pounds
Metal thermostat housing: 7.4 ft. pounds

I assume that your neighbor knows how to remove the 2 slide rail bolts to get access to the front M8 bolt. Also, you can put a wrench on the rear of the camshaft to hold it when removing the camshaft sprocket bolt. Make sure to mark the chain, sprocket, and camshaft location so the re-installation goes back to the correct timing. After I removed the timing chain tensioner and camshaft sprocket, I used a tie wrap through the chain links to keep it securely in place.

Good luck,

Dave

You're welcome Don. Don't hesitate to ask any specific questions concerning removing/replacing the head or any related parts.
