Thinking about CLK 320

Hi folks,
I am looking at a 2000 CLK 320 with around 66,000 miles. I am not very familiar with these cars and was wondering what sort of problems they can have and what sort of questions I should ask.

I was also wondering when the last major maintenance should have been done, when the next one is, and what they entail. Plugs, timing belt, etc.

The car looks to be in great shape, the guy is asking 16,500, is this a fair price?

Thanks for the help!

The CLK is based on the W202 "C" class. A nice car for 2 people.

The service records would be the most important thing to ME.

My BET is that other than oil changes nothing has been done.

IF that is the case offer at least $1,500 less as you will spend at least $1,000 to get the
needed services done.

Spend the $$$ and run a car fax & do a pre-purchase inspection.

I am the original owner of a 1999 clk320, with 92,000 miles on the clock, and I just discovered the rear left spring was broken, so I'll be replacing both springs & rear shocks. Other than that, I replaced only the harmonic balancer (under warranty, after it separated, but that's another well-known story) and front shocks. I'm told the engine is leaking from the oil ports as I see spots on the driveway. Still on original battery, probably will be replaced before winter sets in. Run the a/c for a while, then switch to vent, & see if the windshield begins to fog up - mine does, and I don't think it should, but not a big deal. Great car.
