W126 aftermarket headlights

Hi All,

Has anyone installed the "clear-glass" after-market headlights that are all over ebay on their W126 sedan. e.g.,:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/81-91-MERCEDES-W126-300SE-300SEL-420SEL-LED-HEADLIGHTS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ004QQitemZ140167200862QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

If you did, how do they look? Does anyone have a picture.

On another subject: aI am looking for some headlights for my w126. If you have some email me please at: zaruba@uta.edu

Greg

They look stupid, way to modern. Buy some Euro lights which cost the same and install HID kits if you want a modern, yet period look.

You can get the Asian Euro's for like $200, Bosch are going to cost you $600.

Euro's look good, thats the way MB designed them. You can't put a really modern light on an older car, they styles clash and it just looks odd.

In terms of how they look, I rather hold my opinion.
In terms of quality, be warned: most of this aftermarket sets are awful. They crack easily, fade, filter water, and short circuit quite often (units from Asia are the worse at everything listed before).

The only set I would recommend would be an original M.B. Euro or equivalent aftermarket Hella or Bosch. These sets cost over $600, but you really get what you pay for.

Just get the regular Euro lights, that the car should have had in the first place, and did, everywhere but in the USA.

Best build quality, lighting power and beam spread. No risk of trouble like with the other aftermarket stuff, that is very questionable in every way.

lucked out

I went to my friendly local neighborhood junkyard and found a set of Bsch eour headlights (and adjuster mechanism) for $60. There is a small pebble hole in one of them that I hope to fix with some windshield repair solution. I believe the glass can be bought separately as well, can it?

Thanks!
