1988 300e flunked emisssion test HELP
I had to have my Benz emission tested. It flunked on the HC ppm reading. 148 is passable but mine was 1195. It has been stuttering some lately. It is a faulty fuel injector or what ? Where do I began and what would this high reading mean. The converter, CO, and Nox ppm passed nicely But the HC ppm count tells me it is not running correctly Thanks

if you can check your timing, check for vaccuum leaks, change your plugs, check your wires, make sure your cat is nice and hot before going in too.. sounds like a rich mixture to me but check out them things

High hydro-carbons are results of poor combustion. Most likely a secondary ignition problem. Wires, dist cap, rotor, coil, OR spark plugs.
