Hello fellow Benz enthusiasts
Have an '86 560sel that runs fine. When I start it cold it will usually catch then immediately stall. When I crank again it will start fine and continue to run. If I crank through the stall it will also start fine but I don't like doing that to the poor starter. It did not do this a year ago. The problem developed.
Have replaced most engine sensors and cold start injector with no positive change. The car has new plugs, o2 sensor and wires. Since the car has KE Jetronic CIS I suspect that the fuel pressure or delivery upon starting may be the problem (have not checked yet) but have noticed from parts-shop that these cars have fuel accumulators and have considered that if this is a diaphragm accumulator and it is failed, maybe this is the culprit as it is not responding to the dynamic fuel load when starting cold. Anyone have experience with this problem? Would like your thoughts before I start throwing parts at it. My fuel gauges do not go up to 100 psi so I need new equipment before I start testing.
Appreciate any advice or thoughts.
Thanks
Adam
