Difference in California Model?
How much difference is there between a regular North American model and a California model? 1991 SL in particular

Emissions equipment for starters.
The actual factory window sticker even states "$30 charge for California Emissions testing" Some 1991 models you couldn't even BUY at ALL in California. Such as the 350SD and 350SDL The factory sales brochure for that year doesn't mention any differences between California and 49 state SL models for 1991. The engines, the 300SL 228 hp and the 322 hp four cam 32-valve 500SL V8 are both good reliable engines for the R129 Panzerwagens, but most buyers went for the the 500. It's engine was better suited for a heavy cruiser like that.
