We All Must Learn

Brothers of The Benz
We have joked with each other for quite some time.
Let's continue to do so while aiding our fellow DIYers.
blau, you read the remarks and make your own decision.
Good luck in your new adventure.

Just can't resist!! ....my two cents

A. It's not rocket science!

B. If it was my first time (or second, or third, or fourth),knowing what I know now, I certainly wouldn't attempt it.

C. Yes there is a refrigerant sealant, guess what it's called? "Leak Lock". Available at any refrigeration wholesale supplier.

D. Would I use it? Not in this application! A light coat of refrigeration oil on the "O" ring and the threads is enough.

You know.... what it all really boils down to is this... turning the wrenches is the fun/easy part of it all. And anyone with the ambition certainly should do it.
Only problem is... without the experience, just one step out of sequence and you have a plugged system, shot compressor or who knows what???

How often $0.02 worth adds up to dollars worth of valuable information!
Not all of us have all of the answers, but when put together we have a book.
You just keep inputting your little tidbits as most of us do and everything will be just fine.

One last word if I may, IF I knew of a reputable shop that did reputable service EVERY time I took the vehicle in, and IF they did not EVER over charge the consumer and IF they ONLY did the work that is truly necessary, then by all means, take it to the shop. However, 'here in the real world', you take your chances. That is the reason I and several of my friends prefer to do our own work. I assure you, we are not without means to have it done at the shop. We simply prefer the job is done right the first time. Instead of discouraging others about the complexity of a job, I believe in helping by passing on whatever experience or literature at my disposal to share the joy of a DIY job that is well done. Most of the threads that I have seen that discourage others is by those that really don't understand the job themselves. I would encourage all to get a manual, get some tools, check it out! Parts are cheap and service is good here on this forum at FASTLANE. You will probably want to kick yourself after you find out how truly cheap and simple most maintenance really is. Enjoy!!

Sealant?

Use Teflon Tape, available at Grainger or Johnstone or any A/C supply house.

Mr. Swinford,

It's nice to see you posting again. I haven't noticed any of your posts in it seems like a couple of years. Didn't you post under another moniker a long time ago.

Welcome back,

JRBROWN

Well, I'll be Jrbrown.
I was about to post a reply about no sealant that I ever heard of, when lo and behold, your post shows up. Glad I didn't post now.
