Idiot Move - Could Use Help!

Hi Guys,

Thanks to a fellow board member, I secured some proper non-resistor spark plugs for my W126 '91 560 SEL. Unfortunately, during installation, I damaged one of the spark plug wires. They are nearly new set of Beru's, and I can't stand the thought of having to pay for an entire new set, as they are so expensive.

Does anyone have a used (or new), known good spark plug wire for a 1991 560 SEL? It needs to be a longer wire, as it is for the cylinder closest to the firewall on the drivers side of the V8. Glad to pay for the wire and shipping, as long as it's a properly working wire.

Really appreciate the help, guys!

Thanks,

Gavin

1991 560 SEL

Just a thought in case you don't have luck getting one. Call your local MB dealership, tell them you need a wire for the one cylinder, ask for a price. They used to sell individual wires. Or I suppose you could buy a length and make it up.

I hope it works out for you,
Acky

Is it the wire that is damaged, or just the spark plug connector? If the latter, it screws off with care, and costs about $17 on this site.

I have some wires that are new (bought when I ran into the same problem you did, I broke off the connector on my 86 560SEL when pulling off the wire to get to a badly leaking valve cover, and had to buy a new set. I never did install all of them.), and some of the good ones that came off of my car.

I'll find them tomorrow and e-mail you if I have the one you need.
