my 1992 190e 2.6....help
i had/have many problems with my car and have been undergoing lots of stress now because of it!...short summary...bought the car with a blown head gasket and the tranny was acting up...at the time though i was inexperienced with any of the problems with the car. so i never knew bout the oil in the coolant...tranny ends up going, i have the car towed to PA from nj to be fixed...2 MONTHS LATER......i finally get my car back...had the head welded and remilled since it was pitted i think or something along those lines. and a used tranny put in...had my car for like 4 days and then the inginition gets stuck and i lose my car for like another week!....i was soo mad...but now i have my car and have had problems with it...one being i never had the timing chain and guides replaced...and my guides broke and fell down into my oil pan causing my oil pressure to gradually drop...dropped my oil pan and cleaned it out. put it all back together not worrying about new guides or anything...yes i know i need new timing chain and guides but i never did it cause a mb mechanic said it wasnt a major issue...i also have been dealing with leaks...ALL OF THEM for the most part(tranny fluid, coolant, and oil) and i have noises that i have been tryin to figure out...when shifting from reverse to drive i get a sorta of clunk..my guess is slop in the drive shaft or something. so i dont go straight to drive from reverse..i set it in neutral and make sure my car is fully stopped so it doesnt do that...another noise is my rear like "hums" when i drive and im not sure what causes that...the other noise which i think i pin pointed is my fan clutch...because the other night i took my belt off and i was checking pulleys to see how they were spinning and everything...and i put my hand on the fan and it wobbled back and forth pretty good.....and my coolant leak is possibly coming from my water pump being bad...but im not sure...
my question is what parts do i need to replace my fan clutch and water pump? i have other problems i will want to address, but i think my fan clutch and water pump are the most important and i wrote this up all really quick in the night so its prolly gonna jump around a lot and not make sense..sorry ( im also a 20 yr old kid and im not made of money so i want to do all the work myself ) |

more questions...
whats recommended oil for my car? temp it starting to go below 40 degrees F and i noticed my engine tapping for a few seconds when i start it i found this black stuff like a graphite or plastic not sure exactly in this one rubber line coming from my air pump...is that bad?...and the other rubber fitting goin into my engine was split so i removed it,is that also bad? i also have a surging idle so i unplugged my IAC...whats the cheaper routes to fixing a high idle? cuz now i have rough starts due to my IAC being unplugged my wiper comes on every once and a while on its own..i noticed that if the handle is turned backwards it makes it come on..do i have a bad connection? do i need a new handle? my auxilary fans NEVER come on..even when the temp climbs and when i have the AC on...and i know they work cuz i tested them by runnin a wire from my batt to them..so whats bad some type or sensor? i got lots mroe questions i just need to remember them all |
