Replacement of Emergency Flasher Switch on 1988 SL

Has anyone replaced the emergency flasher switch on a 1988 560 SL? Any tips on where the hidden screws are to get at the underside of the center consol.

on my '78 107 I had to remove the ashtray and the 2 phillips screws behind it. Then carefully remove and disconnect the power supply to that piece (has contacts on it for cigar lighter power). under that piece are two phillips head wood screws, remove them and lift up on your wood console cover enough to bring it up over your shift gate (I'd imagine on that chassis the gate may be recessed). Press towards the rear of the car, there is a metal rod that holds the wood piece down (it inserts into hole in the vinal console. Be careful to remove the connections to the switches for windows and mirrors as to not damage them. then remove the hazard switch by pressing on the two metal tabs on the side of the hazard switch and pushing it out.

This is how it is done on my vintage 107, however I'd imagine is is not too much different on yours. I hope this helps
