Oil Change - 2003 E500 - No Dipstick? Oil extraction?
Either they hid this thing really well - or this car doesn't have a dipstick.
If it does not have a dipstick - how do the dealers do a change on these cars using an oil extractor? I know how to check the oil from inside the car, and the car does have a drain plug.

Dip stick tube appears to be on the right front (pass side) of engine compartment.
It may well not have a dip stick, just as the trans tube does not. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=211070&M=113%2E967&GA=722%2E633&CT=M&cat=07N&SID=01&SGR=005&SGN=01

That's not the correct engine - in 2003 MB went two a 2 air filter unit, with the filters fitting in the plastic compartment over the cylinder heads.
The 03 5.0L engine is 113.967 I believe you have listed the older version of the 113 (like the 4.3L found in the 02 E430) - 113.940 with the filter on the side like in the picture. Here is a picture I found on eBay: http://i3.ebayimg.com/01/a/000/77/d5/3e78_4.JPG

Perhaps the detail is wrong...it is titled 113.967 in the upper left of the page.
The dip stick in your photo is in the same location, just below the right hand inlet pipe.

Interesting - I see what you're referring to, but I don't remember seeing that when we changed the oil last.
We did find the trans dip stick tube, I'll have to check for that oil dipstick tube as well. Thanks!

I find that the pictures like in the dealers parts guide for example can be incorrect. That looks like a MB FSM page, so the description is probably correct just the picture isn't.
MB factory stuff seems to be written with the assumption that you already know a bit.

Should have a capped plug on the dipstick tube, but the dipstick is a shop tool that the dealerships have.
Just another trick from Mercedes to get the do it yourselfers to bring their cars to the shop. M/B=Greedy bastiges. |

We checked this car and it does NOT have the dipstick tube like the one pictured above.
This is a 2003 E500 sport if that matters... Will post picture later. Still confused ![]()

On my friends, sisters 05 CLK320 you check the oil on the dash. Their is no dipsitck. Maybe this car is the same? The manual should say about what the engine holds, probably like 7-8 quarts on a MB V8. So just put 6 in, and see what the dash says.
As for getting the oil out, their has to be a dipstick tube somewhere? ![]()

There are some of the newer Mercs that don't have dipsticks. Odd as it sounds, it is true. I just don't know what models those are.
