1986 190E with 102000 miles. My wife drove around corner and engine stopped! No indications prior to failure. I brought car home and did some checking: Coil meeets specs on ohm test, Spark to coil = yes; spark to distributor = no; spark to plugs = no. Fuel pump Relay I bypassed relay ( cross connected holes 7 & 8 = fuel pump
started running - could hear it in trunk). Checked with dealer tech and he encouraged me to "bring it in": said there were a whole host of items which could be wrong: ingition key tumblers, fuel pump, fuel distribution system, fuel filter, cap, roter, pickups, Ignition Module etc. I have decided it is either fuel pump or Ignition Module. Can anybody help me narrow doen the problem or give me some additional diagnostic help? |
