Question M103 head gasket and using RTV black

Three professional Mercedes mechanics I talked to said to use a little RTV black on the block and head only on the passenger side of the engine when I I install new head gasket. Anyone else hear of that procedure.

I found that RTV red is good to 700 degrees F.

If you use it, make sure you don't get any into the water or oil passages.

The OE head gasket made by "Elring" has a reinforced area there impregnated with RTV.
