Salvage title probably explains why it's wearing 97 sheet metal.

Jim B. 12-12-2007 08:17 PM

Guy just bought it to flip it. Could not pass smog with it, so now he is dumping it

A smog test nightmare, and scammers from NY and Hawaii are already asking him seller.

This deal has got to have a bad ending for somebody.

Nice looking job with the W210 front clip and tail lights. Only one of those I ever seen.

A fool or a scammer could get screwed on this one.

Yeesh. Want a headache? Buy it and you got one.

Dee8go 12-12-2007 09:46 PM

If it can't pass the CA smog test, that doesn't mean it wouldn't pass the smog test somewhere else neccessarily, does it? CA's emissions standards are a lot tougher than a lot of other states.

It's cool-looking, though . . .

Hatterasguy 12-12-2007 09:51 PM

Thats horrible, it just is a horrible clash.

E_420 12-13-2007 12:27 AM

I think it looks sweet.i want to do something like that to my 94 e420 but cant find the parts too lower it. I have no smog test here in illinois:) i dont think it would be much of a headache for me then. eh?

G-Benz 12-13-2007 06:55 AM

I dunno...the W210 conversion was well executed, but renders the car totally worthless! Analagous to a transvestite E500!

The engine compartment is a mess...surprising considering the attention to detail elsewhere. You'd think if the engine was heavily modded, the owner would like to show off the efforts!

The smog issues could be scary! Despite CAs stringent smog laws, the car may not pass smog in other states as well...I have enough trouble squeaking my stock W124 through every year, much less a supercharged E500!

david s poole 12-13-2007 09:40 AM

this car just needs someone good with experience to make it pass smog.the supercharger will never be working when it's under test so it just becomes a matter of how much was cut out or excluded from the exhaust.the electronics that run the motor have to be in the ballpark or it wouldn't even idle.

I love how all the photographs are taken in the shade.

While we are on the subject of bastardisation, are their any companies that sells kits to shoehorn a domestic V8 (say an LT or LS1) into a C class?

t walgamuth 12-13-2007 04:58 PM

Did he say it idles?

I surely would not want it. H probably did all that other sheet metal when he saw how much proper dog house is for a 500e.

Blech!

It looks like the seller is shill bidding on his own item. Each eBay username has "***" in the center. I don't think it is a coincidence:

Read the ebay rules ..that is the new buyer ID protection feature.................

outside the good or bad all are saying about the car, consider the hours someone proably spent piecing this thing together. someone had vision. although i wouldnt want it in my garage, kudos to someone for trying something different! next time try doing it with a chevy...
