If I recall correctly, I took my steering column apart and then determined what was wrong with the turn signal switch. I was then able to to do a Mr. fixit.

Use a 1/2" breaker bar to take nut off steering wheel... not a racthet.

Any tips for dealing with the airbag? The car is a '91 300E W124 chassis. Anybody know of a step by step tutorial somewhere on the net?

Just disconnect the airbag plug (mine is red) by pulling it out. Some suggest first disconnecting the battery.
