93 MB280TE -Central Locking & Alarm system
Hello Can anyone help me?
I have a 93/94 model 280TE with the original Keyless infrared locking system with comfortlocking, alarm and demobilizing of start functions. The Key(infrared) unlocks the central locking system and all doorloks opens. The Imobilizer/alarm diode next to the other buttons in the dashboard is still blinking, telling that the demobilzer and alarm is still on. The car can not be started, no power is transmitted from startkey swith to startermotor. For a while this procedure have worked; unlock the doorlocks with the infraredkey, and open drivers door physicly(no other doors), click one more time on key with door still open, red doorhandle lamp starts blinking and all doors locks, one more click on key, red doorhandle lamp stops blinking, one more click, green doorlamp blinks all doors unlock again and the Alarm/demobilizer is off. The car can be started.(the front drivers door has been open(physicly) all the time during this process. |

Cannot help you with the wiring diagram, but just wanted to comment that the Infrared Key Remote / Alarm combo on late production W124s has been
terrible in terms of reliability. Most owners I know that have the system have just resorted to unplug it (using the key to manually open the car and regretfully loosing the alarm) after several attempts to fix it. When my E 320 T was ordered, the salesman advised against ordering the Infrared Key. I am glad he did. The alarm/inmoblizer was ordered but it works with the regular key at the driver's door.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the infra red remote was an option available only on 124 models delivered in Germany. Your post gives clues that you may be located in Germany. It would be helpful to know if this is indeed a car built for German delivery.
I'm not sure I can help you, but I will try...... If you lock/unlock the car by inserting the key into a lock (either front door or trunk, not using infra red remote) does the alarm arm and disarm? J. M. van Swaay |

The infrared remote key option on W124s was available, as far as I understand, worldwide (maybe not in the U.S., not sure about that).
Many W124s here in Costa Rica have it, and my cousin's E220 in Uruguay has it. Also a friend's E280 in Spain has it. Has seen it also on various W124s in Hong Kong.

My service CD describes the infra red system for "D" cars (German Delivery) and cars with option code 885. So far, I haven't seen a US 124 with the infra red--maybe it was available but not very common. Anybody have this option on a US spec car?
