Removing SLS on 95 wagon, help pls.

I recently got a 95 E320 wagon. It is in good shape except for the suspension. The ride in the car is very, very bouncy. I figured I needed a new suspension, and at the same time I could lower it a bit. I have searched on the forums about this topic, but I have not really found anything about removing the SLS on a 95 E320 wagon. I did a search on suspension, and gathered some information. With this information I went ahead and bought Eibach springs and Bilstein HD shocks to replace the SLS. Now the person who works on my car, says that this set-up might not work for the wagon. He says the Bilsteins on the rear are too long, and that I need shorter shocks. Is this true? I thought I read it somewhere that this would work. I guess I was wrong. Hopefully someone with experience can chime in and help me out. Thanks
