Need help installing a distributor.

Hi-I have an 1996 Chevy K1500 truck with a 5.7 engine. I had started to do some work on the motor last March which I had to remove the distributor. I had set the engine up at TDC on the #1 cylinder and made a mark on the intake manifold where the rotor was pointing. Its been so long that now the mark is no longer there (wasnt planning on taking this long). The motor is still set up at TDC on #1 cylinder. How do I go about installing the distributor where it will match up with the motor? I know this is not a mercedes, but there are so many knowledgeable people here and you always get a quick response. Thanks in advance.
Mike
