The metric system? Increments of 1, instead of fractions.
You don't really "learn" it per se, you just get used to using it.
10mm = 1cm; 100cm = 1 meter (1000mm = 1meter); 1000meters = 1kilometer

deca = 10, hecta = 100, kilo = 1000 (units)

1gram (about the weight of a paperclip) 1000grams = 1 kilogram (often just referred to as a kilo)

Temperature is simple too! 0° = when water freezes; 100° is when water boils.
