94 S320. When car is started first thing in the morning the belt squeals for about 1min., especially on rainy or damp days. Sometimes if I rev the engine a few quick bursts the squeal goes away. When driving along at 40-60 and quickly accelerating there is a quick chirp and also when quickly letting off the accelerator. When turning the engine off the belt again chirps. Any ideas other than replacing the belt, its 2yrs old.

Zibby, the belt tensioner and/or damper (shock absorber) may need adjusting/replacing. Inspect the tensioner to verify the tension is adjusted properly ... pointer should be on the line at the thick end of the triangle. NOTE: Before turning the adjustment bolt loosen the center bolt of the tensioner 1/2 turn, otherwise you'll damage the tensioner. After adjusting the tensioner retighten the center bolt which may have a black plastic cover protecting it from road grime.

Reving up the engine a few bursts when cold is just going to agravate the problem. I suggest allowing the engine to reach operating temp before reving up.

Thanks..... later on today I'm going to pull the car into the garage and check out the belt tentioner and have a closer inspection of the belts condition.

The belt tentioner is toast, replace it before you break the adjuster too.
