Idle Arm Reapair Kit Is It Greased?
Hi and happy new year to everibody,
as my idle arm had almost 5 mm play i decided to replace the bushin with the MB kit. i was thinking tha is sealed but the old one falled apart...so now my question is I do notknow if the new one is filled bay factory with grease or if I have to do it.........now is already installed in the car....... many thanks Alberto |

* No year and model was given with the question but my reply applies to all the Mercedes I've worked on over the years. There may be a Mercedes model 50 years ago that had a grease fitting on the steering idler, but I haven't seen it.
* Alberto, don't pack it in grease on assembly. There's usually just enough assembly lube (not chassis grease) on the bushings for an easier press fit. Notice also that there's no grease fitting for adding grease after installation. Pay attention to the correct placement of the spacer and to the correct torque spec. This is usually where the mistakes are made. Don't just slam it tight with an impact gun.

Hi Robert,
car is CLk 430 1998 with 230.000 km, i noticed that there is no fitting forn add grease, but i was not sure if it was fitted with lube by factory. I i have understood i have just to drive happy now I torqued by hand and i am sure I do not have over torqued. many thanks Alberto |
