Inst cluster

This was pasted on another thread wanted to throw it as anew one

Was wondering if MB is using a new manufacture for the Instrument cluster ? I have a 01 E320 the cluster works fine and fortunatly I am still under warranty until 03 2009 ( extenteded war.) .

I was thinking to have the current one replaced to cover my self in case of a future failure, reduce risk. Would I be replacing something that works for the same risk of failure in other words don' fix what works.

Note the serice advisor did not blink when I mentioned a replacement , under warranty of course.

The car only has 22K miles on the clock and I am in the process of running the miles up.

Can't imagine they would replace a perfectly working part under warranty.

now I know why my older parts are so expensive, and the price of the cars keeps going up!
