B1234 code revisited

* The car is a 96 E320. Had code B1234 in the AAC. Replaced the sun sensor and reset the code. The code came back. Fortunately it doesn't turn any lights on.
* Everything I've read says to ignore the fault. If it doesn't represent a problem with the actual sun sensor, or result from a drop in battery voltage, what is the problem I'm ignoring?

I'm wondering if you would ever notice that the sun sensor was or was not working. Something tells me no, that the effect is just too subtle. Makes me wonder why it is even there. I would ignore the error and move on.
