CLK 320 Unintentional horn operation
I am a newbie to Mercedes Benz and to this forum having just bought my first one and just signed up to the other.
For one week I have owned a 2005 CLK 320 Sport Coupe. This is a one owner (leased) car with 35,000 miles and still under factory warranty. I had it inspected at Mercedes Benz of Houston – North and all they found was 20% remaining on front brake pads. The tech told me that it was among the cleanest ones he had seen. A good Carfax report BTY.
I love this car! It is like Dracula in his cape, black and white and only comes out at night looking for female victims.
Since the inspection and purchase I have discovered that Menu and Sub Menu buttons on the left side of the steering wheel and the + - buttons on the right side operate fine with a press and release operation but with a press and hold the horn honks. My owners’ manual doesn’t even mention the horn.
Is this normal operation or wire contact/grounding? In my town, honking at the wrong time can have untended consequences.
I appreciate any info regarding this.
