Arthur!!! Didn't have time to get the codes read on my transmission beacuse I work 11 hours a day.......BUT, years ago, I was an ASE certified mechanic for over 15 years, and I won't pretend that I know Mercedes, but I do know basic car repair and have rebuilt many engines, etc.......
So, while driving to work, I asked myself: "If this were not a Mercedes, what does your gut tell you that this vehicle is experiencing????".....My answer was: a possible fuel restriction..... So, just to tntertain myself, I stopped at the local auto parts store, purchased some TECHRON concentrated fuel system cleaner (the good stuff at $16.00 a bottle), dunped it in the tank........and have driven over 100 miles without incident........I will admit, the car still feels sluggish (may still be trans related) but I didn't go into "limp mode" My question is: Would a restricted fuel filter or a partial blockage in the fuel supply line possibly cause the syptoms as described??????

Same issue
Im having the same problem with a 1999 e320. I will be driving along no problems, then randomly the accelerator no longer responds. Sometimes the engine will also die but not every time. Im thinking fuel filter maybe? I get a P0400 code, but I cant imagine the EGR causing this issue. Thoughts?
