How much does dealer charge for programming the instruments cluster

Has anybody changed the instruments cluster and had the odometer programmed to the current mileage of the car? How much have you paid for the progamming (not the cluster)?

Do they do it at all when you don't buy the cluster from them?
Thanks!

Contact Sunman here as he just opened a shop in Texas
and has a SDS

sunil@mwhouston.com

Or The Local Dealer should charge one hour to version code the combi

as the NEW / Replacement combi will come coded with your correct miles
from Mercedes when you order it

Was $168, to clear the fault code in the cluster I bought on eBay, and fix the millage. As soon as I installed the used cluster I had a SRS and ABS warning light on. They also did an inspection of the car, ans washed it. They noted the front flex disc needed replacement, and the front brake rotors are trashed. Estimate to fix those 2 things were about 1k. I did the flex disc last weekend, and have all four rotors and pads waiting on a free weekend.

Word of warning, BEFORE you remove the existing cluster, disconnect the battery, and then swap clusters, and connect battery again.

The 1996 model clusters don't need programming.

Oh, are they mechanical rather than electronic?

Does it mean I can set the mileage myself? No fraud intention because the new (used) one has 30K miles less than my current one. Thanks!

Once the mileage is burned into the chip IT can't be changed.

They can be connected to a frequency generator & mileage added at approx 140MPH.
