Both visor mirror lids of my sister's 2001 E320 have come loose. Looks like the hinges disintegrated. Can the mirrors be replaced or are they part of the visor?

My 2000 E320 has exactly the same problem, both lids fall off from visors. Wonder if this is very common and how should we fix it; by replacing the lid or the whole visor.

One broke on my 01 E the dealer replaced the entire visor, there are some who made a pin or pins out of small rods!

It was common practice to replace the whole visor before but now there's a bulletin explaing the availability of the mirror inserts as well as the mircoswitch behind the visor. So to answer your question, yes, the mirror part is available seperatly, it just pops out if you pry it from the sides.

Would this part replacement be a "dealer" only provided part ?
I just had my passanger side replaced under the guise of an electrical problem, extended warranty ( 4 + 4) , lift broken ... no light.

I would be more than willing to replace driver side myself. Additionally, as the car ages and interior parts need replacement ( UV breaking stuff down) what would be a source for replacing the interior parts?
