91 560 sel trans not shifting up

i have a 91 560 sel that will not shift to 2nd or third gears. checked for vacuum leaks and found none, i don't know where or if it's the modulator and how to check it. please help !

If it don't shift at all it ain't a modulator issue. I'd look at the governor.

do you mean check the governor on the fuel/intake system, what does it look like or what am i looking for.

This is hard to say, but my first instance is to reply to problems as if you could deal with them.

Governor pressure in the transmission opposes control and modulator pressure to some extent and causes the shift valves to move. No governor pressure no shift. Put your gauge in the governor test port and drive the car. Governor pressure is exactly proportional to vehicle speed, starting at 10kph.

Could also be a piece of debris stuck in your valve body...had the same thing happen on a 500SEL a few months back.. dissembled/cleaned the valve body, re-installed and all was well

You can pull the gov. w/ the trans in the car should you check/swap it out.
