The EGR pipe was blocked in my 420SEL, so I think it's more common than you think.

I've replaced two EGR valves over the life of the car, but never thought about the pipe itself getting clogged. It would be interesting to see how he got to it through the throttle body.

The cleaning thru the throttle body is on the in-line 6 ....

That's an entirely different motor, 116 motor has an entirely different setup, a long snaking EGR pipe more the 104.
