Unhappy axel trouble

What to do!?

I drive a 190 custom amg (`88), a while ago I made a fast take-off of the line after a couple yards something horrible happend; i heard a hard metal bangbangbangbang and after that another hard BANG!

A bit smoke from under the bonnet, i had no idea what had happend.

The next day i went to a garage and saw that the rear-end pan of the transmission had some HUGE holes around the area were the axel come out from the transmission.

Ofcourse that piece has to be replaced around 100$ mb dealer, while i`m at it both flexdisks 120$ mb dealer.

But I have a feeling that the rear axel might have had a hard beating, now I hope someone can advice me on what to do about this rear axel, since i`m a newbie but want to be a DIY`er

The car has run almost 300000km and has a top speed of 190mph (305kph) so it`s important that the driveline is in perfect condition.

Many thx guys,

John
