96 E320 hard to start when cold

for the past 2 weeks every morning it takes 3 to 5 turns of ignition to start car. after it warms up it starts fine the rest of the day.does anyone know if a major problem exists or is upcoming....

Does your starter try to turn the engine?
Is it making any sound?
