torque converter reliability-consensus

Contemplating dropping a MB remanufactured tranny in my hi-mile E320 with bad reverse clutch pak, but don't want to replace converter, as there is nothing wrong with it. The reason I ask is that it appears as a line item on indy mechanic's estimate. Any thoughts before I tell him to forget about the converter?
Thanks

If you eat up a converter, it will fill your transmission with fine particles which will result in a rebuild or another transmission swap. Take that however you want.

Thanks Matt. Best if converter replaced as well.
