Rear outside door handles

can anyone please guide me on how to remove the outside rear door handles from a 124 Body.

I would like to remove, or at least loosen said handles, so that I can get behind them and fix some paint bubbling caused by surface rust.

Thanks

Phil

Super easy.

In the doorjamb, there is a tab in the outer seal right in line with the end of the door handle, pull it out of the hole.

You will see an allen-head set screw, back that out until you can move the rear portion of the door handle towards the back of the door enough to pull it out of the door.

Now slide the door handle all of the way rearward, and pull it out of the door.

Installation is reverse.

Front doors are a little more difficult as they take turning the key 45degrees to unhook it from the mechanism. The plug for the front locks is in the big black plug in the doorjamb.
