headlights 450 slc

Hello...

Last week I bought a 450 slc ... and I can't figure out how to turn the lights off... the switch seems stuck... I turned the lights on ok, but now, the switch won't budge... if I try to turn the switch to the right, the off pstn, it won't move. From it's current "jammed" position I can pull the switch in and out to one of three "plunger" positions, but I don't know what these 3 pstns are for, from what I can see they have little effect on the lights.

I don't have a users handbook for guidance, so I'm wondering is there something I'm missing ? I'm not the worlds most mechanically minded person. For now I keep disconnecting the battery...

Any help/guidance much appreciated.

Best regards,
Phil

When off, the light switch knob should be in the center position, i.e. straight up and down. The first click to the right(clockwise) is the running lights, and the next and last click adds the headlights. To turn off the lights the knob must be turned to counter-clockwise to the center or "staright up and down position".

Pulling the switch out to the first click with the headlights on low bean turns the fog lights on. In Europe, the second click out adds the rear fog light we don't have in the US.

Hope this helps.
