'95 E320 wiring harness

Hi all, I just ordered a new harness from an MB dealer. In searching this forum on this model year and issue I have found myself super-paranoid I may be getting the wrong part. As I have read, there are 2 potential harnesses for this model year.

I spent over 20 minutes carefully looking over the old harness for a part number and came up with only these: located on the head of the harness that connects to the computer--1928401820 and 0005455381 I followed the harness all the way to the engine and didn't see any other numbers.

Th MB dealer says I need part #1244402933. The last 6 of my VIN are 207306.

I don't want to get 2 hours into this job only to have the wrong part. Does anybody know where on the original harness the part # could be? Should I just shut up and relax?

Thx!

-GH

If you ordered it through the dealer with your VIN, there should be no problem. If there is, it's their problem.

That's the right part number for your car. You actually need the last 7 digits but assuming your car is a sedan the 7th digit from the end should be a C. The EPC is very clear - the 29 33 part number is for C179244 and above.

Cool, I will relax then. Thanks again for all the help. Yes, the car is a sedan C....

Done!!

Just an update. I did the harness today in about 3 hours by myself

It was an easy job really. While I was in there I replaced the spark plugs and spark plug connectors...

Thinking I just saved myself some serious $$...

Ok, I'm next inline to do this, harness arrived Friday. $800+ for that????
The good side is that the price of the car was easily reduced by $1500 to cover the harness. Had to provide the number off of the old harness as there was some uncertainty about which of the two available p/n I needed. I hope the car runs the same as it already does, its actually rather fast. The check engine light is of course, on. Will reset and see what happens. Stay tuned!
