odometer
I have a funny problem with 87 300e, the odometer stopped reading the mileage. It's stuck on 138000 miles and I reset the trip meter and that stopped counting mileage as well. I was wondering where would I look to solve this problem.

Happens all the time apparently. You can "search" on this site and find many suggestions. When mine stopped, the speedo unit went off to a repair shop (in Texas I think). Cost a little over $100. Some people do the repair themselves. Check the archives.

yeah my odemeter went out at around 70,000. Luckily at that point we still lived in louisville and had a friend/mechanic who could do it without taking it to tafel, the dealer, and getting socked with a huge bill. Ill tell you what though driving a car with the speedometer out is not fun.

Here's what you do while the speedo unit is being repaired. Take a photocopy of the speedo's face with speed indicator showing about 100 kph and tape that photocopy to the instrument cluster. Looks real and gets an occasional comment.
