A gas engine will last as long as a diesel as long as you keep up on maintenance. More so with MB because they build good engines.

Most MB diesels will need to be rebuilt somewhere between 300k-500k miles, although their are a few exceptions. I have no doubt that say an M104 or an M119 can't reach similer mileage figures.

The trick to getting a million mile MB is to buy it new or nearly so, and drive it 50k-100k miles a year with an open checkbook maintenance policy.

Well I'm not close to that Gasser's Mileage, but Both my 380SE and MY SEC have their first High mileage badges. 1984 380SE = 187,000 and counting. 1989 560 SEC = 175,000 and counting. And their badges or on the grilles. (Not on the SEC in the avatar at the time picture was taken)
