2004 sl500 convertible top part repair

See the attached photos on the passenger side, there is a flap that rotates 180 degrees when putting the top up and down, the hinge is now loose and will not stay in postion, does anyone know procedure for replacement and what the part is called and a part number if available

The part is called the side-flap drive assembly. It includes the motor, cables, hinges, etc. The replacement procedure is pretty straight-forward. Once you see the new one, you'll be able to figure out the rest. It's no big deal.

Thanks for the information, I understand the part does not come with the actual flap, and looking at how the flap is attached I see threads poking out on the "arm" but do not see how to remove and replace, do I have to peel back the vinyl ?

The vinyl trim pieces just snap into place. Just pry them up carefully and you'll be able to release the locking tabs.
