1986 300E baffling engine problem

I have a 86 300E with 131k on it. It has a 3.0 with an a/t. i cant get it to run unless i pull the vacuum hose off the idle control valve thus creating a giant vacuum leak. i bought two used icv and i appear to have 12v and ground at the icv connection so i am assuming its something else. Any idea?"

Most likely the fuel mixture is too rich. Try adjusting OR checking the fuel pressures.
