w210-general mercedes question- engine hood vents
Are the vents on the engine hood just a residual from evolutionary hot air exit from engine bay .As you all know their is a rigid synthetic fabrick maybe to prevent water from rain and washing from reaching the engine compartment. Did anyone remove that to facilitate better air exit from around the hot engine??

The vents on the hood are for the HVAC intake not for the hot engine air. All hot engine air should be flowing under the vehicle, at least thats how it is here in the US

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
The vents are the fresh air intakes for the cabin heating and cooling
