S320 Stalling

I have a problem with this Car. It is a 1996 S320.

About a year ago it stalled with all lights on the dasboard coming on. It started and ran fine for a year. This past Saturday, it happened again.

My wifesdrives this car and should this happen on a highway, it would be a issue. Any hints as to what may be going on. In Feb 2006 a major service was done and the fuel filter replaced, the mileage was 92,000 miles and the mileage now is 118,000.

Some say it could be the fuel filter and some say it coud be a sensor.

Regards

Raf

Raf, what year car? 1994-96 cars had an electronic accelerator computer & later cars use the fuel computer to control idle.

Has anyone tried to read codes from that system?

S320

It is 1996 S320. I am told that if no dashboatd lights are on, then it is not possible to pull out the codes.

Even though no dash lights came on, there still should be a code. Example of this is CPS (crank position sensor) failure, no dash light, but it does leave a code. My 2 cents.

96 means it is OBDII compliant. Have it scanned first using SDS or similar quality (not simple obdii) scanner.

Do a fuel pressure test at the test port on the fuel rail..that will eliminate the fuel possibles.

Not to neglect the wiring harnesses and the deterioration problem with them.

I think that 1996, would fall into the possibility? I hope, I am wrong.

Good Luck.
