2003 C230 oil consumption?

Is it normal for a 2003 c230 to use oil. My computer tells me to add 1qt of oil to reach maximum level. No leaks, car is drivin short distances, very little highway driving. My car has 9000 mile since the last oil change. It was full then. If its normal where is the oil going. I have a difficult time believing that a mercedes with 53000 should use any oil.

You should probably not start different threads for the same topic. Then people don't know where to respond. As far as your question, 1 quart in 9000 miles is not typical for most cars. Most cars use a lot more than that. I am guessing you do not have much experience with cars to ask such a question, if I understand you that you think this is high consumption. Most car manufacturers consider a quart every 1000 miles to be acceptable. The M111 engine is a bit odd in that it uses very little oil. Also, if you don't have a dip stick and rely on the "computer" it is a little hard to know how much you have really used, unless you know exactly how much you had in the first place. But even if it used a full quart, that is very little for 9000 miles.

9K+ miles between oil changes is not acceptable for your car. You should be changing it at about 5K miles.

Please explain the basis for your statement. Or is this just your opinion? You seem to state it as a fact.

Like I stated in your other thread, 1 qt. per 9000 miles really is nothing to worry about.
