Unhappy 300E trunk wont open :(

so i bought a 87 300E, totally in love with the car but the only problem is that i cannot get the trunk to open, when i push in the button acts like its locked, i got to the central lock system under the back seat and messed with it i could hear it lock and unlock. the good news is that the right side tail light seems to come out so i can access the trunk through there any ideas on what i can do to take apart the lock from the inside, i really don't want to have to drill it the guy i bought it from was kinda shady and i didn't ask enough questions as usual when i buy a car

Just in case you don't know this....if the key in the trunk lock is turned to the right it will stay locked and unlocking the car at the doors will not unlock the trunk. Make sure the key cylinder in the trunk lock is turned to the left and remove the key so that the slot is vertical .

Aslo, one of my 300e trunk seals was replaced with an aftermarket seal and at times it seems impossible to open. I thought I had a lock proplem but using maxumun force opened it. I sprayed the seal with ruber silicone rubber conditioner and it's OK now but if the trunk stays closed for extended periods it is again very hard to open as the seal sticks to the trunk lid.

hope this helps,
Acky

Is the slot virtical or horizontal?

Also, can you contact the previous owner and ask about it? He may have forgotten to tell you something????
