Thanks very much! I wish I knew how to post it here. It seems to indicate that the car came with a limited slip but only mentions packing the diff lube in the rear of the car not the actual diff. Pine green cloth interior! It does not mention the vented rotors that came on it originally (at least it had them when I got it....could have been fitted by the folks who rally prepped it too, along with the 369 rear ratio it has.

I'm gonna be pretty pissed if we find it already has a limited slip in it!

A lot of the codes were used twice on different models for different things. This 605 code as the "headlamp wiper unit" is the part that applies to the w123, not the "limited-slip differential" nor the "trim strips on hardtop" - they apply to some other vehicle.

It's saying beginning on January 8, 1971 option code 605 is "headlamp wiper unit and licence plate bracket". The reference to limited slip refers to an earlier use of 605.

So in this case it means just the headlamp washers?

I wondered about the trim strips on hard top....that sounded like something for an sl.

It is an interesting option list is it not? The car was ordered for the Amerithon Ralley which was to have been run from california to the southern end of argentina, back up to Alaska and then back to California. Unfortunately the ralley was never run, though this interesting car was prepped for it and brought to the us and eventually converted for road use.

Yes, by necessity option code numbers get multiple assignments over time. The Russian site shows them all, and you have pick which one is applicable based on the production date/year of the car. It is an interesting car.

Does anybody have a picture of a pine green fabric interior?

I think I will look for one so that if I want to I can put it back as it originally was if I want to.

In this months Mercedes Classic magazine at the end their is alway a test you knowledge question. This question show a 108 sedan with European lights and goes on to show a streem of fog or steam accross the front to the car.
they conclude to say that option 60/0 was availible for the 1971 through 1976 and newer Mercedes-Benz R-107 ,W116 S class with high out put headlights. So waht is option 60/0?

It's a black dash, console and wheel. Everything else is green. It even looks like the window crank knobs are green.
