swapping engines

Hi, I'am currently placing a 110.982 (6 cyl) engine out of a 1977 slc into an 1981 380sl body that has the original transmission that went with a 116.960 engine (380)
My question is,,, will the 6 cyl bolt up to the v-8 transmission or do I have to use the 6cyl tranny?...which has some type of an adapter plate about an in. thick bolted to it.
Thanks

Pretty sure the 6 cylinder engines do not share a bellhousing with the V8s. You'll need a 6cyl trans to do the swap.
