shifting 400e

My 400e shifts at 3500-4000 from a start. Then fwy speed past 65-70 mph when cable was at it setting.
Backed off cable almost bottom out so it would shift at fwy speeds. Still goes up to 3500-4000rpm from the start.
When I adjusted cable counter clockwise tightenend it would not go into higher gear until I passed 70 mph at 4000rpm. It is a normal progression of speed. Never adjusted past its rested position on the cam.
Thanks

I would try driving with the cable disconnected. Should shift at or below 1800 RPM under light throttle

Something was probably gummed up or plugged in the valve body.

I change my trans fluid with synthetic (and a new filter) every spring. It shifts and performs awesome. Fluid changes make the difference!
