odd start problem, 91 190E 2.3
91 190E 2.3 When I start the car after it has set for a few hours or longer it only seems to run on 2 or 3 cylinders (sometimes 1) until I get the rpm to 1000, then it runs smooth and normal as long as the revs stay above 1000. If they drop below 1000 it starts missing again. This goes on for about 10 seconds and then it idles normally until I have shut it off for a few hours. Restarts are normal after this first event. Air temp in 70's and 80's. I don't know what could make it run ok above 1000 but not below, and only for about 10 seconds. It must be getting fuel and spark ok or it would not run above 1000 ok. Same for bleeding down lifters I think. Anyone ever have a problem like this? Thanks

The ambient air temperature may seem warm, but still a "cold" engine..
Do you smell excessive gasoline from the tailpipe when it is chuggin on fewer than optimal cylinders? Still pretty new with Mercedes, but they are still, just cars... Fuel, Compression and Ignition, how it gets there is just details.. |

No gas smell. Does anyone know the temp that the cold start circuit starts working? I thought that cold start meant cold outside air but maybe it means cold compared to the regular engine temp.
