Requesting help on 97 e320 AC problem
 
I need help with an air conditioning problem on a 1997 e320.

I followed the diagnostics here

And got these values and codes

1 -- 35
2 -- 27
3 -- 31
4 -- 29
5 -- 29
6 -- 56
7 -- 05
8 -- 27

Error codes are as dollows

E
EB1234
EB1235
E FF
E

Now to explain the problem. The passenger side is working correctly. It blows very cold air. The driver side is not functioning.

I have checked the fuses and they are all good.

My main question is this. Is there a flap that could be stuck on the inside of the driver side ventilation system that is causing the problem, or is one of the sensors as defined in the error code the cause. Like the sun sensor.

I am leaning toward a flap because the passenger side is working like normal, but would like some advice from other people who have worked on these cars before I start tearing into the dash to fix a phsyical problem that could be a relay or module

You do not have a problem with flaps. These only control the output. There is not a mixing door to adjust temperatures (as used in some Fords).

Neither the sun sensor nor the emissions sensor (your codes) are the problem. Either you have a leaking duovalve, a low refrigerant charge, or a restriction in the refrigerant circuit.

To test the duovalve, carefully pinch off the heater hose going from the duovalve to the engine and repeat the test.

To test for low refrigerant charge or a restriction, evacuate the system and charge it fully by weight. If the system now functions correctly, you have a leak. If the left side is still warm, you have a restriction.

Looks like you didn't have the engine running when you collected the data. You need to start the engine and run the a/c to get useful data.

The car has left and right temperature sensors for the heater cores; it is possible to determine if the duovalve is leaking from the reported data.
