w124, rear window regulator, or simply adjustment?
I found similar threads (to this question) but no real resolution provided. I am hoping that this is a simple adjustment needed, and not major replacement.
Have w124 1992 300e Sportline. One rear window refused to roll up all the way, stopping about 2" from top. The motor (regulator) seems to be working fine, sending window up/down with ease, no grinding, rattles, or other "bad" noises. When it gets 2" from the top, it sounds as if it stops just as it normall should...thinking it has reached the top. When going down, it does appear to try to go 2" too low as well. I've read about a lot of w124 window regulator problems, and/or plastic slide/glide issues, but unless I am just missing this plastic piece...I just don't see any problem. Can anyone explain a bit more about how the window mechanism/regulator works, and can it be adjusted at all? I also found one thread that suggests the window can be electronically readjusted by lowering the window, holding the down swith for 3 seconds, then raising it to top and holding for 3 seconds. This didn't seem to work either. Please help with any advise. At least I learned how to pull off the door panel...with great advice and pics from these forums...and now plan to pull all 4 off 1 at a time and tighten bolts, trim pieces, etc. THANKS 1992 300e Sportline (extremely rare red 4 door) |
