190E distributor removal
Hi all have a 1989 190E 2.6L anyone have any advice or tricks on how to remove the distributor cap? I know about the three bolts but here is my question do I need to remove the fan in order to get the cap out? thanks

When I removed the distributor cap, I did not need to remove the fan. Just need a lot of patience to remove the last bolt in that area.

It requires an allen wrench of exactly the right length. You may have to make one - by cutting off the long side of one to the right length. You can then use a small cheater bar on the short side if you have to.

Both above posts are on the mark. Patience is required.
For a first timer, removing the fan shroud is a good starting point. There is very little room to manoeuvre. You have probably noticed that the fan blades are staggered and there is a point with extra room between them to facilitate the task If you think getting it off requires patience - wait until you try to get it back on.
